We are all going to Die…
We are all going to Die!
Sounds dramatic, I know! Yet it is a simple, natural truth of life - one I think we can all agree upon..
Most of us find it very hard to discuss or even ponder our own mortality. I feel this can make it even more painful and confusing when we are faced with death in our lives.
Personally, I have always been intrigued by this mysterious doorway. Have you?
For four years I had the honour of volunteering for a charity, holding space for individuals feeling suicidal. In some cases, the person simply wanted to have someone to speak with on the phone as they ended their life. These profound conversations taught me more than I could ever begin to share here 🙏
However, one very useful thing I learnt in this time, is that a person's hearing is most often the last sense to leave. A precious fact I feel we should all be taught in school.
Over the years I have studied countless reports of those who died and were brought back to life (NDE's). Most people's lives completely transform after such an experience; realising just how precious life is, opening to Love in a much deeper way!
The common experience NDE survivors share, beyond the brilliant white light at the end of the tunnel - is having a flashback recall of their whole life.
I don’t know about you - but this really inspires me to create a movie I would love to watch upon the pearly gates :)
Rather than what you might imagine, people rarely reported seeing their big achievements of life flash before their eyes. Many people shared that it was the small moments, the glints in the eye and loving exchanges of life.
For me, this is further encouragement to be present with life, to be kind and to make the most each moment.
Scientists are finding neurological evidence to support these first hand experiences now:
“Something we may learn from this research is: although our loved ones have their eyes closed and are ready to leave us to rest, their brains may be replaying some of the nicest moments they experienced in their lives.” Dr Ajmal Zemmar

Having studied Psychology at university I was always fascinated with the workings of the mind. However, it wasn’t until I began inner investigations through meditation that I began to taste the nectar I was looking for.
I have always preferred experiential learning, yet death was an experience I wasn’t quite ready for!
My curiosity of the mind, life/death and the evolution of consciousness lead me to practicing Tibetan Buddhism. I went for refuge and was given the name Lobsang Cherub (Kind-hearted Emptiness).
In the lineage I practiced, a strong emphasis was given to Dream Yoga, where you become aware you are dreaming. Sleep is considered to be a valuable time to practice, being at least a third of a person’s life-time.
It is also understood that the potential to learn and connect with Rinpoche’s (Master Teachers) is greatly increased in the astral realms.
Beyond this, Tibetan Buddhist wisdom shares that if we have the capacity to become lucid, aware we are dreaming - we will have a good chance of being aware that we are dead when our time comes.
In this time between lifetimes known as the Bardo, wisdom keepers say that we have a much greater opportunity to awaken. A powerful motivation!
In these early days of exploring my dreams, I had many experiences that changed my experience of reality forever. That gave me an experience of who I am beyond my physical body.
I met teachers who showed me the trappings of my ego in hilarious, unforgettable ways. I met my grandfather after he passed away. I had dreams of the future that came true. Stories I may share in future articles..
Since these days I have explored how dreaming and astral travel is used in Hermetic Initiations through the Tree of Life, Shamanic approaches for soul retrieval, Wizardry for healing and awakening.
What I have learnt is just how insightful, sacred and transformational lucid dreaming can be.
I have also learnt that this is a skill all of us can learn.
A skill that can teach us how live and die well.
An empowering and exciting journey where you can explore your deepest curiosities for yourself!
