Welcome to the course

Day 1

In the following video James offers guidance on creating a place to sit for meditation. As well as tips on finding a comfortable meditation posture.

The below guided meditation is a wonderful foundational practice that can be done as a beginner and returned to time and again. A great practice if the mind is agitated, or to support you to focus at the beginning of other meditation techniques. I continually return to this practice as an anchor to develop single pointed attention.

Day 2

In the following video James discusses some of the benefits a meditation practice can bring to your life. As well as how to create the right mindset for the practice.

Read James’ article on Meditation

Today’s session is a deeply relaxing body scan meditation. Cultivating calm presence, acceptance and harmony throughout your body, heart and mind. Scanning the body in this way can be a wonderful way to begin other meditations; to allow you to fully drop into your meditations in an embodied, peaceful way. You can also use this before bedtime to deeply relax for sleep. This meditation is also supported by soft, gentle music to deepen your experience.

Day 3

In the following video James discusses discusses the distractions we face within meditation, as well as the cumulative benefit of a consistent practice.

Today’s mindfulness meditation guides you into an even deeper relationship with your breath. Refining and cultivating your presence, forming a strong foundation for all meditation practices.

Day 4

Meditation helps us to develop our capacity to pay attention and be present. Simultaneously we cultivate a deeper level of awareness; we become more acquainted with the observer. This allows us to be more conscious of what we pay attention to, increases our attention span, as well as the depth of our engagement with life. In this video I discuss these benefits and how we cultivate them.

Today’s meditation is a yoga nidra practice that is supportive for deep sleep and good dreams. A good time to listen this one is just before going to sleep.

Day 5

Today James discusses the different types of meditation and finding a practice that resonates with you.

A guided pranayama meditation exploring the 'three-part breath' building into the 'full yogic breath'. With relaxing sounds to deepen the experience. This is a great practice to open the respiratory system, calm the nervous system and prepare for meditation.

Day 6

Discussing the nature of compassion and how we can cultivate it through meditation.

This Metta meditation guides the listener to feel loving kindness towards them self and others. Widening the circle of compassion and opening the heart to the world. This meditation is supported with relaxing sounds to take you deeper into the journey. Cultivating acceptance, forgiveness, and compassion.

Day 7

In this video James discusses the healing potential of meditation

A healing visualisation meditation journey to finish the week. Every cell resonating with the light, warmth and energy of the sunshine. As our cosmic cup overflows with love, we share this grace with the world. With gentle music to guide you deeper into the beauty and mystery of being.

I hope you enjoyed the course, feel free to return to listen to the meditations.

Wishing you peace, kindness and wisdom.
